Originally from Barcelona, Kris Garriga has been passionate about travel ever since she embarked on her first solo trip to Ireland at the age of 18. After the pandemic, she spent a year and a half solo backpacking across Latin America on a very low budget, an experience that shaped her and helped her mature as a traveler. Since then, she has visited more than 60 countries and explored countless regions, especially across the former Soviet world — she often jokes that she has probably seen more of Russia than most Russians.
A self-confessed history nerd, Kris has always been fascinated by revolutions and Soviet history. She loves talking with locals about their daily lives and struggles, understanding different realities, and photographing monuments and architecture from the Soviet era.
Kris has been leading tours since 2023 across the former Soviet Union and Latin America, quickly discovering that what she enjoys most is helping travelers gain a deeper and more nuanced understanding of countries that are often misunderstood, Against the Compass style. Particularly energetic and super curious, Kris is our latest addition to the ATC team, and we hope her expertise as both a guide and a traveler will only help us continue growing the ATC community.
