Joan Torres

Joan Torres is proudly from Catalonia but shaped by the many places he has called home, always embracing the best that each culture has to offer. While Syria remains his favorite country, he has long been drawn to the kind of places that are difficult to reach and often overlooked. The harder it is to get there, the more rewarding the journey tends to be.

A lover of nature, challenging hikes, and remote corners of the world, he is happiest when there is no internet connection and no rush to be anywhere. Rural life fascinates him far more than big cities, and some of his fondest memories come from crossing high passes, or spending time in isolated villages where life moves at its own pace.

For him, travel has never been about ticking off monuments or bucket-list attractions. A one-hour conversation with a local about everyday life is worth more than ten days spent rushing from one landmark to another. Genuine human connections, long chats over tea, coffee or beer, and understanding how people really live are what make travel meaningful.

A rough traveler by nature, he has always preferred the simple life on the road and doesn’t mind getting uncomfortable if it means experiencing something authentic. Above all, one of his greatest joys is passing on his love for travel to his son James, teaching him from an early age to be curious, open-minded, and respectful of different cultures. More than collecting countries, he hopes to help him understand the world and the people who inhabit it.
